STANHOPE 1 – 5TH JULY 2014 – 2164 BIRDS – 60 FLYERS

First race of the sprint series for 2014 saw Thomastown Club flyer Nick Gecas collect first prize with a 2 year old Blue Chequer cock doing 1472.56m/min .The breeding of this bird is Janssen from his old family that he has developed crossed with a Gabby Vandenabeele.Nick’s second bird home was a full brother to his Federation winner.A close second was Pip Nakos also from Thomastown Club! Nick’s velocity was by far the fastest of all Federations on the day with other Federations releasing from nearby Shepparton and Rochester.Well done Nick!!

 

 

STANHOPE 2 – 12TH JULY 2014 – 2164 BIRDS – 65 FLYERS

The winner of the second Federation race of the sprint series was  Steve Veljanovski (VMRO) from the Wallan Club with a Blue Chequer Pied Cock doing 1174.85m/minute some 19m/minute ahead of second place getters Lapworth & Kee of Regent Club. Steve got 2 birds together and shortly after got a 3rd bird .Looking at the results ,Steve believes that all 3 birds were in time to win the Federation. Steve clocked a yearling cock which is related to his 2 Federation winners of 2012.Steve is now a 4th year flyer and has already chalked up 3 Federation winners.Well done Steve!!

 

 

JERILDERIE 1 – 19TH JULY 2014 – 2325 BIRDS – 67 FLYERS


Winner of 1st Jerilderie event,a distanceof approximately 270klms was Vince Cannizzo (Aussie Lofts) of the Fawkner Club with a winning velocity of 1074.74m/minute.A close 2nd Federation being R & M Simmons & Sons of Thomastown Club.Vince dropped 7 birds together and all 7 birds are grand children to his Champion Poducer “Mr. Aussie”.Well done on a terrific result Vince.

 

 

 

JERILDERIE 2 – 26TH JULY 2014 – 2265 BIRDS – 62 FLYERS

Winner of the 2nd Jerilderie event  an approximate distance of 265kms with a winning velocity of 1141.08 is Lapworth and Kee from the Regent Homing Club with 2nd Fed being Len La Sala of the Pascoe Vale Cub. The breeding of this Blue Chq Pied hen goes back to Gary’s old family of pigeons. Well Done Boys!

 

 

 

 

LEETON 1 – 2ND AUGUST 2014 – 1759 BIRDS – 57 FLYERS

The fed winner from Leeton this week, an approximate distance of 367 km’s, is Rocky Zora of the Broadmeadows Club with a velocity of 1120.11 with a close 2nd fed being Pat and Pauline Pace from the Fawkner Club. Rocky clocked a yearling Blue Chequer Hen which is a half sister to his fed winner last year from Shepparton and is his old family of pigeons that he has developed. Well Done Rocky!!

 

 

 

LEETON 2 – 9th AUGUST 2014 – 1948 BIRDS – 61 FLYERS


Winner of the 2nd race from Leeton an approximate distance of 373 km’s is Denaro & McDonald of the Pascoe Vale Club with a  velocity of 1587.42 with 2nd place being Victor Borg from the Brimbank Club.  This BCH a 2 year old hen was also placed 2nd Fed Cobar 440 miles last year as a yearling. This hen is ¾ Joe’s old family of pigeons and ¼ Barry Dodds Chadwick Janssen. Her father has been placed 2nd Fed on 3 occasions for Joe and the mother has bred 3 fed winners as well. Well Done on a terrific result guys!

 

 

 

JERILDERIE 3 – 16TH AUGUST 2014 –  1521 BIRDS – 54 FLYERS

Winner of the 3rd Jerilderie event a distance of approximately 258klm’s, is the President of the VRPU who races with the Fawkner club, Mr Tony Price with a winning velocity of 1423.95. 2nd Fed being Cavanagh and Anderson from the Broadmeadows Club. Tony clocked a yearling cock that was a Sunday Pigeon from an earlier race who had come home like a rake losing much condition. Tony cared for this pigeon and gradually brought it back to form and thus rewarded him by winning the Fed. The breeding of the pigeon is ¾ Vince Canizzo bloodlines and ¼ Tony’s and his father’s old family lines. Well Done Tony!

 

 

 

WEST WYALONG 1 – 23RD AUGUST 2014 – 1373 BIRDS – 57 FLYERS

Winner of the 1st West Wyalong ( Kevin Price Special) event 300 miles is John Floros of the Northcote Homing Club. This is the 3rd time that John has won the Kevin Price Special. Although he lost close to 2 minutes trapping this 2 year old cock, he was still good enough to win the fed and  recording a velocity of 1836.82.  2nd fed was  Mehmet Rifat of the Thomastown Club with a velocity of 1827.72. The breeding of this bird is down of Steve Cini’s Pigeons being Smeulders Jansen with a cross of Houben.  Well done John!!

 

 

 

WEST WYALONG 2 – 30TH AUGUST 2014 – 1545 BIRDS – 65 FLYERS

 

Winner of the 2nd West Wyalong event, a distance of 300 miles, is Colin Cox of the Regent Homing Club with a 2 year old cock registering a velocity of 1598.06 mpm with  2nd Fed going to John Floros of the Northcote Homing Club.  The winning pigeon was bred by Mark Schubert ( National Lofts). The breeding of this bird is Van Dyke/Koopman. Colin has had a lot of success with these Mark Schubert bred birds over the last couple of years. Well Done Colin!!

 

 

 

WEST WYALONG 3 – 6TH SEPTEMBER 2014 – 1277 BIRDS – 58 FLYERS

Winners of the 3rd West Wyalong event, ( The H PARKINSON PRODUCE) a distance of 300 miles is the partnership of Tony Canata and David Gauchi ( THE UNTOUCHABLES) of the Fawkner club with a velocity of 1713.4 mpm. A close 2nd Fed was VMRO lofts of the Wallan Club with a velocity of 1712.53. The breeding of this yearling hen is as follows. The sire was placed 1st fed in 2003 from Narracorte 240 miles and is Barry Dodds Chadwick Jansen with a touch of Desmet Matthys. The Dam was purchased at Vince Cannizo’s sale and is Jansen/Vanloon.  A terrific effort to win this very prestigious event. Congratulations Gentlemen!!

 

 

CONDOBLIN 1 – 13TH SEPTEMBER 2014 – 1250 BIRDS – 58 FLYERS

 


Winner of the 1st Condobolin event a distance of 350 miles is R & M Simmons and Sons  ( WINNERS 1) of the Thomastown Homing Club clocking a yearling cock with a velocity of 1450.96 with 2nd Fed going to Victor Borg ( Marjorca Lofts) of the Brimbank Club doing 1434.95 mpm. The breeding of this pigeon is a blend of  recently introduced imports, Alwin Petrie, Marco Falkenborg, Goodger and Jansen with 3 generations of fed winners now for Rod and Maggie.  It was a terrific result considering that they had the best velocity against all  VRPU, GMPF and WPF federations. Fantastic Effort. Well Done!!

 

 

CONDOBLIN 2 – GEORGE WHALEY MEM. 20TH SEPTEMBER 2014 – 1079 BIRDS – 56 FLYERS

 

This weeks winner , for the second week in a row, of the 2nd Condoblin – George Whaley Memorial – was R & M Simmons and Sons of the Thomastown Homing Club clocking a yearling hen with a velocity of 1108.56 mpm the fastest of all Federations jointly liberated (VRPU,GMPF and WPF) with 2nd Federation going to “The Untouchables” of the Fawkner Club doing 1090.93 mpm.The breeding of VRPU13-9652, a smart looking hen from Rod & Maggie’s imports, was from The De Jan (Heremans – Ceusters) and Porscher (Alwin Petrie). Again the Hereman’s cross Petrie’s have performed sensationally.Well done Winners1!!

 

 

 

CONDOBLIN 3 – 27TH SEPTEMBER 2014 – 1113 BIRDS – 55 FLYERS

 

This weeks winner , for the second time this year for 1st Federation of the 3rd Condoblin, was John Floros of the Northcote Club clocking a yearling blue bar hen with a velocity of 1276.42 mpm with a close 2nd Federation going to Zija & Lup of the Brimbank Club doing 1276.05 mpm.John’s Blue Bar Hen is off his Produce Fed winner which is Jansen/ Muelamen crossed with a houben/vanloon hen. Well done John. Interestingly John is located in the East side of the VRPU and Robert the West side , a true split.Well done boys !!

 

 

 

NARROMINE 1 – G.R RAYNER MEMORIAL – 4TH OCTOBER 2014 975 BIRDS – 51 FLYERS

 

Winner of the first Narromine event 400 miles ( GEORGE RAYNER MEMORIAL)  is Victor Borg of the Brimbank Club with a velocity of 1359.25 clocking a yearling BBPH Staff Van Reet/Winton Bloodlines. Vic also ran 2nd fed under the name of Marjorca Lofts with a velocity of 1356.08 clocking a yearling DCC being Goodger/Winton Bloodlines.  Well Done Vic, a tremendous effort racing 2 teams to the one loft for 1st and 2nd

 

 

 

COBAR NATIONAL – S PRIOR CUP – 11TH OCTOBER 2014 – 484 BIRDS – 56 FLYERS

 

This weeks winner of the prestigious National was W.Hull from the NSHC with a velocity of 1294.99 mpm clocking a yearling hen. Bill’s overall standing in the National result (2611 birds) was 4th overall an excellent result.2nd was La Sala Syndicate of the Pascoe Vale Club doing 1288.72 mpm.Well done Bill for you 1st Federation for the season.

 

 

 

YOLLA NATIONAL – BETTY CLARKE MEMORIAL – 12TH OCTOBER 2014 – 624 BIRDS – 53 FLYERS

 

In the second race of the weekend, the Tassie National, La Sala Syndicate of the Pascoe Vale Club took out the honours with a velocity of 1037.53 mpm clocking a blue bar cock. 2nd was fellow Pascoe Vale club flyer  John Dismore doing 1020.78 mpm. Len’s winning velocity was enough to take first place overall in the National (3,364 birds), a superb effort and with a 2nd Federation in the Cobar National the day before, Len’s weekend was made. Well done Len.

 

 

 

NARROMINE 2 – B.COTTON MEMORIAL – 18TH OCTOBER 2014 – 765 BIRDS – 44 FLYERS

 

 

This weeks winner of the last 400 mile race for the season was Marjorca Lofts of the Brimbank Club with a velocity of 1640.70 mpm clocking a blue bar cock.2nd were the inform Untouchables of the Fawkner Club with a velocity of 1635.17 mpm. Well done to both Vic and the boys in a close one!!.

 

 

 

COONAMBLE 500 – P STOKOE MEMORIAL – 30TH OCTOBER 2014 – 781 BIRDS – 43 FLYERS

 

 

 

This weeks winner of the  2 day 500 mile Coonamble Race was Aussie lofts of the Fawkner Club with a velocity of 957.18 mpm clocking a 2 year old blue chequer hen. 2nd was Michael Scandolera of the Wallan Club with the leading clock with a velocity of 939.32mpm.Well done boys in a tough one!!

 

 

 

JERILDERIE 4 – 10 BIRDER – 8TH NOVEMBER 2014 – 389 BIRDS – 39 FLYERS

 

 

This weeks winner of the 10 birder was Footscray Club stalwart George Borg with a velocity of 1827.30mpm clocking a yearling blue bar cock.2nd was John Ferraro of the Broadmeadows Club with a velocity of 1805.48mpm also clocking a cock in a quick one. Well done boys!!
