RACE 1 RUPANYUP 22ND JUNE 2019 – 35 FLYERS 1056 BIRDS.
The first race for season 2019 was a tough one first up and was won by Glenroy flyer Paul Burlak doing 1135.76 m/minute. His pencil blue bar cock is a Grandson to the late Stan Hepworths No.1 cock.The hen was purchased from the late Rocky Zora. Just 53 seconds behind was Thomastown flyer Majeed Family doing 1131.14 m/minute. Well done boys.
RACE 2 RUPANYUP 2 30TH JUNE 2019 – 33 FLYERS 1034 BIRDS
The second race for the season was alot quicker with WNW winds. Thomastown flyer Gary Church doing 1613.64 m/minute took out the first prize with a blue bar hen. Gary’s bird was bred from Heremans cock of Chris McLeod and a Heremans hen from the South Austrlian families. Second was consistent team Williams & Hunter 36 seconds behind. Well done all.
RACE 3 RUPANYUP 3 6TH JULY 2019 – 34 FLYERS 958 BIRDS
The third race again from Rupanyup saw Broadmeadows flyer Top Gun Lofts ( F.Micallef) take first Federation doing 1223.13m/minute. Frank flew a Blue bar hen which was bred from Nas Adikli’s No.1 Casseart cock and the dam a Janssen/Delbar. Second was also a Broameadows flyer M & R Anasatasi & Sons 56 seconds behind. Congratulations boys.
RACE 4 RUPANYPU 4 13TH JULY 2019 – 40 FLYERS 1145 BIRDS
The fourth race from Rupanyap was another quick one with Thomastown flyers W.Williams and D Hunter & Sons taking out first Federation doing 1574.73m/minute Their 2016 Blue Cheq hen was sired by a Heremans line cock and D.Hunter Janssen line hen. Second was another Thomastown flyer DJ and Sons 1 minute and and 36 seconds behind. Well done Thomastown boys.
RACE 5 KANIVA 1 20TH JULY 2019 – 31 FLYERS 775 BIRDS
The fifth race for the season from Kaniva was won by Pascoe Vale flyer S & C Cini & Desira doing 1461.54m/minute. Steve’s Mealy cock was by a Ponderosa Heremans cock and from an Aussie blood hen.Second was another Pascoe Vale flyer Joe Denaro some 16 secs later. Well done guys in windy conditions.
RACE 6 KANIVA 2 27TH JULY 2019 – 35 FLYERS 1049 BIRDS
The sixth race for the season from Kaniva was won by Craigieburn flyer and “El Presidente” Tony Price doing 1370.85m/minute. Tony’s Blue Bar cock was a 3rd rounder mainly Jansen Van Loon from Aussie Lofts with a touch of Kevin Price’s Mifsud/Rayner blues.Second was Broadmeadows flyer Becker’s Loft 3 minutes and 30 seconds later. Congratulations to both.
RACE 7 KANIVA 3 (L FYFFE DERBY) 3RD AUGUST 2019 – 45 FLYERS 1095 BIRDS
The seventh race for the season was our Leo Fyffe Memorial Derby from Kaniva and was won by Preston Flyer John Floros for the second year in a row doing 1123.62m/minute . John’s Blue Bar hen was a two year old also placed 3rd Federation last year at 300 miles. She is a Heremans cross Janssen.Second went to fellow Preston flyer A & M Curcio some 2 minutes and 7 second behind. Well done the Preston boys!.
RACE 8 TINTINARA 1 K.PRICE SPECIAL 17TH AUGUST 2019 – 37 FLYERS 768 BIRDS
The eighth race for the season was our K.Price Specail won by Broadmeadows Club flyer Top Gun Lofts ( F.Micallef). This is Frank’s second first Federation for the season. The Blue bar hen was doing 1273.11m/minute to win by 1 min and 18 seconds from Pascoe Vale flyer M.Doria. Frank’s hen was a Wickham cross Janssen. Well done boys.
RACE 9 TINTINARA 2 24TH AUGUST 2019 – 36 FLYERS 778 BIRDS
The ninth race for the season was won by Broadmeadows flyer M & R Anastasi & Sons doing a very quick 2125.75m/minute the fastest for the season. Their Blue bar cock’s breeding is by a cock from their old family crossed with a Van loon cross Vangutson Hansen hen. Second was Pascoe Vale stawlwart John Dismore 4 minutes and 32 seconds behind. Congratulations lads.
RACE 10 YOLLA – BETTY CLARKE MEMORIAL 31ST AUGUST 2019 – 38 FLYERS 367 BIRDS
The tenth race for the season was the Tassie race from Yolla won by Pascoe Vale team S & C Cini & Desira doing 874.19m/minute,the fastest of all the Federations mass liberated. This was always going to be a very difficult race with the birds facing a header all the way across Bass Strait to home. Their blue bar hen’s breeding was a Cini cross Portelli. This is their second first Federation position for the season. Second was Wayne Williams and D.Hunter & Sons 3 minutes and 51 seconds behind. Congratulations to both teams.
RACE 11 TINTINARA 3 – H.PARKINSON PRODUCE 31ST AUGUST 2019 – 36 FLYERS 587 BIRDS
The eleventh race for the season was from Tintinara , the prestigious “Produce”. This was won by Thomastown flyer G & S Church doing 1531.89m/minute.The blue chequered cock was a De Rauw Sablon cock crossed with one of Gary’s double Fed hens of his old blood. This is also Gary’s second first Federation for the season. Second was Pascoe Vale flyer J.Denaro 4 minutes and 6 seconds behind. Well done lads.
RACE 12 MURRAY BRIDGE 1 7TH SEPTEMBER 2019 – 35 FLYERS 673 BIRDS
The twelth race for the season from Murray Bridge was won by Thomastown team of W.Williams & D Hunter & Sons their second first Federation for the season. Their Blue bar pied hen was doing 1597.77m/minute with sire of this pigeon being of aussie blood and the hen one of Dave Hunter’s Houbens. Second was the team of J & L Share clocking a Blue bar hen just 36 seconds behind. Well done to both teams.
RACE 13 MURRAY BRIDGE GEO WHALEY MEMORIAL – 36 FLYERS 564 BIRDS
The thirteenth race for the season from Murray Bridge was won by Pascoe Vale flyer John Forti doing 1257.94m/minute. John’s blue bar hen was by a Ponderosa Stud Hereman Ceuster and the dam a Denaro cross Meuleman which was a 1st Federation Morgan herself. Second was on the other side of town, Regent stalwart Colin Cox clocking Blue Chequer hen just 56 seconds behind. Well done to both flyers in an unusual race.
RACE 14 MURRAY BRIDGE – 32 FLYERS 574 BIRDS
The fourteenth race from Murray Bridge was won by Glenroy flyer Paul Burlak doing a very quick 1797.85m/minute. This is Paul’s second first Federation for the season. The blue bar pied hen was Rocky Zora Gabby crossed with a Van Dyke -Kannibaal /Jan Aarden. Second was Preston flyer Ange Curcio clocking 1 minute and 34 seconds later. Well done boys.
RACE 15 -MORGAN – G.R. RAYNER MEMORIAL – 34 FLYERS 483 BIRDS
The fifteenth race for the season was from Morgan , the classic G.R Rayner Memorial, the first of our 400’s. This was won by Cauchi Bros ( Robert in picture) doing 1211.24m/minute . Their blue chequer hen was a Janssen cross Gabby. Second was Thomastown team Wayne Williams & D . Hunter & Sons some 1minute and 49 seconds behind. This was a mass liberation with the WPF and Geelong birds, some 2000 + birds. Cauchi Bros would have come 6th overall. Well done to both teams.
RACE 16 – MORGAN 2 – B.COTTON MEMORIAL – 22 FLYERS 276 BIRDS
The sixteenth race from Morgan for the B.Cotton memorial was to be a tough one with some flyers not clocking until the second day. Preston flyer John Floros took our the honours for his second first Federation for the season doing 1103.10m/minute. His blue bar hen was by a Janssen Van loon cock paired to a Heremans Ceusters hen. Second was consistent Glenroy flyer Paul Burlak 29 minutes and 58 second behind. Well done to both flyers on a tough one.
RACE 17 – MORGAN NATIONAL – S PRIOR CUP – 32 FLYERS 268 BIRDS
The seventeenth race from Morgan was the classic National. Another tough one with the first Federation winner being John Dismore of the Pascoe Vale Pigeon Club doing 1067.75m/minute which gave John 6th National against some 1900 birds. His yearling blue chequer hen was a Desmet- Matthys x Janssen Van Loon whose nest mate got 11th Federation from 500km earlier this year. Second was the on fire team of Cauchi Bros one minute and 29 seconds behind gaining 8th National. Well done to both.
RACE 18 – CARRIETON 500 – P. STOKOE MEMORIAL – 32 FLYERS 361 BIRDS
The eighteenth race was the “Melbourne Cup” of pigeon racing, the coveted 500 mile from Carrieton, won by Kalaitzis Family (Alex) of the Northern Homing Club doing 1301.90m/minute, the fastest of all the Federations with a mass release of some 1800+ birds. Their Blue chequer hen was bred from Alex’s old family of birds crossed with a hen gifted by Michael Portelli. Second was last weeks winner John Dismore 17 minutes and 11 sec behind. Well done guys.
RACE 19 – BOOKALOO 660 – UNION CUP ( Final Race for the season)- 27 FLYERS 338 BIRDS
The nineteenth and final race for the season was won by the Glenroy team of Sawyer, Edward and Brown clocking early the next morning at 5:36am doing 1261.2m/minute.Their Blue chequer hen was bred by Dennis Brown all Goodger/Pryor , trained by Mick Edwards and raced from the loft of Peter Sawyer , a real team effort.
